Fiji’s legendary singer, Jese Mucunabitu was laid to rest today.

Eulogies were presented by representatives of the chiefly island of Bau, Fiji Performing Rights Association, family members overseas, and Tiko Eastgate - the founder of Tiko’s Floating Restaurant where the late Mucunabitu used to entertain.

The late Mucunabitu’s casket was taken to Tiko’s Floating Restaurant in Suva and the Nausori Market for the final farewell, before it was taken for burial at his farm in Logani-sebi in Tailevu.

While delivering the family eulogy, the late Mucunabitu’s youngest daughter, Caroline Mucunabitu says she is at peace as her father has moved on to a better place, and the family will always cherish the special moments they have shared together.

Mucunabitu’s cousin, Ilisapeci Rokotunidau says Jese was a good ambassador of Fiji and it is hard to forget someone who has given so much.

Rokotunidau says the pain of losing Mucunabitu is immense but they are celebrating the gift he was to everyone.

Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama and his family, local artists, families and friends were present at the funeral service at FMF Gymnasium to farewell Fiji’s golden voice and music legend.
