Fiji’s Honorary Consul in San Francisco, Jay Singh has donated $32,000 to the Prime Minister’s National Disaster Relief and Rehabilitation Fund for TC Yasa.

Fiji’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Satyendra Prasad has acknowledged Singh for his efforts in mobilising the Fijian diaspora and friends of Fiji, through the Fiji-American National Association.

He says given the scale of the destruction, the recovery process will require sustained support from Fiji’s diaspora and its friends from Fiji’s development partners to overcome the far-reaching socio-economic impacts of TC Yasa.

Singh has called on Fiji’s diaspora in North America to be generous in its support via the Prime Minister’s Cyclone Relief and Rehabilitation Fund so that the Government through the NDMO can provide a coordinated response to Fijian families and communities affected by this cyclone.

The devastation caused by TC Yasa is widespread in the Northern Division and in the outer islands of Lomaiviti and Lau Group, and across villages in parts of Rewa, Tailevu, Ra and Yasawa.
