Jamaica made an impressive start to their FIFA Women's World Cup opener after holding France nil-all at the Sydney Football Stadium.

The underdogs played impressively against the fifth-ranked France side that had the services of European League stars, Wendie Renard and Eugenie le Sommer.

Jamaica midfielder, Drew Spence, says no one believed in them but they backed themselves.

The players celebrated their draw as it was massive for them.

In other matches, Sweden won 2-1 against South Africa while the Netherlands edged Portugal 1-nil.
