A total of $20,000 has been donated to the Fiji Cancer Society after Jack’s of Fiji reaffirmed its commitment to community wellbeing through a series of impactful Pinktober initiatives, promoting early detection and nationwide breast cancer awareness.

In a statement, Jack’s of Fiji says that throughout October, the company rolled out a major social media campaign aimed at mobilising public engagement and sparking conversations around breast cancer.

They stated that they pledged an initial $10,000 and invited the public to help double the amount by reaching 10,000 reactions on a dedicated Facebook post, committing to match each reaction in dollars.

Recognising the influence of digital platforms, the company says the campaign was designed to use the reach of social media to spread lifesaving information as widely as possible.

The effort received strong public support, recording 9,222 reactions.

They say additional Pinktober posts helped amplify the message further, collectively reaching 447,627 people across Fiji.

Although the reaction target was not met, Jack’s of Fiji chose to honour the full $20,000 pledge.

Director Nikul Khatri says that while the goal fell slightly short, the passion and support shown by the community highlighted the importance of the cause and motivated the company to provide its full contribution.

The cheque was presented to the Fiji Cancer Society today.

Jack’s of Fiji says its Pinktober commitment also extended beyond the digital sphere, with staff and their families in Nadi organising a community walk and clean-up initiative.

They add that participants collected rubbish along the route, contributing to environmental wellbeing while raising awareness for breast cancer.

Khatri says the company’s Pinktober initiatives are not only about raising awareness but also about standing with families, supporting lifesaving efforts and contributing to Fiji as a whole.
