I’ve been informed that Bainimarama has started to vacate the official PM’s residence – Rabuka

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka says he has been informed that Opposition Leader Voreqe Bainimarama has started to vacate the official PM’s residence.

Rabuka says he does not know how long it will take for them to completely vacate.

He further says he is not sure whether Bainimarama will take up his offer of getting a government quarters.

The residence currently being occupied by Bainimarama was the official residence of the Chief Justice.

fijivillage News has again sent questions to Bainimarama on what is his plan on the vacation of the current residence and the offer by Rabuka to provide a government quarters to him as the Leader of the Opposition. He has not responded.

The Prime Minister’s Office confirms they will seek amendments to the regulations if Bainimarama wants a government quarters.

Acting Permanent Secretary, Pita Wise says they have been advised by the Prime Minister to give Bainimarama as much time as he needs to vacate the residence.

Wise says Rabuka is still staying at his private residence at Namadi Heights.
