It’s our job to make things happen and start the economy moving - Kamikamica
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for External Trade, Co-operatives and SMEs, Manoa Kamikamica

Newly appointed Deputy Prime Minister Manoa Kamikamica says the Government knows that some big projects are to come online soon, and it's their job to make those happen and start the economy moving.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for External Trade, Co-operatives and SMEs, Manoa Kamikamica highlighted this message after he was briefed by his Permanent Secretary yesterday.

Kamikamica says as the elections are over, business people will start looking at whether they go ahead with their investments and it's their job to do everything they can to make those happen.

He says they will also do a deeper dive into the SME sector because they see there is opportunity in this area but because of COVID, many business owners have pulled back some of the initiatives.

He adds they need to re-look into the coffers and invest in that space and work well with the youths and women of Fiji.

Kamikamica says his discussions with the Permanent Secretary focused on the trade agreement that is currently being negotiated.

He says in terms of taxation, they have suggested some increases but will look into the manifesto from their three coalition parties and do some reviews before it's implemented.
