Fiji-Israel strengthens ties as development in agriculture, water, energy, and the technology sector expected
Fijians can expect development in agriculture, water, energy, and the technology sector following a bilateral agreement signing between Fiji and Israel.

Speaking in a joint press conference ahead of the opening of the Embassy of Israel in Fiji, Israel's Foreign Affairs Minister Gideon Sa'ar says they want to share Israel’s innovation and knowledge with Fiji in agriculture, water, energy, technology and many more.

He says that the opening of Israel's Embassy in Fiji is a clear expression of their intent to deepen their friendship with Fiji and the Pacific island countries.

Sa'ar says they have an authentic alliance of believers in Fiji, based on deep faith and biblical roots.

He adds that they also view the Pacific region as strategic and a friendly area with huge potential.

Sa'ar says they also want to deepen their connections and investments here.

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka says the physical presence of Israel cements our ties and ushers in a golden era of the Fiji-Israel relationship.

He says their discussion proves that the friendship between Fiji and Israel is no longer just a symbolic or historic relationship but a dynamic and tech-driven one.

Rabuka says they agree that there is significant potential to expand our engagement beyond traditional areas into new emerging fields where Israel's technology and globally recognised expertise will lead us to a new era.

He adds that these include cooperation in health, digital transformation, and cybersecurity.
