The Methodist Church in Fiji supports the work that is being carried out by the Health Ministry and is urging all Fijians to get vaccinated as this is the only way we can protect ourselves, our family and our nation from the COVID-19 virus.

Speaking on the Bula Ko Lau discussion Forum in the iTaukei language, the Methodist Church Secretary for Communications Reverend Wilfred Regunamada says people should look at the bigger picture on why the Government is stressing for people to get vaccinated and not the misinformation that is being spread through social media.

He says for Christians, most of our functions are conducted in social gatherings and if we want to return to that, getting vaccinated is the way.

Reverend Regunamada says the Church will not force its members to get vaccinated as the decision will lie with individuals but as a member of the body of Christ, it is our responsibility to conserve and respect life.

He adds the videos containing disinformation that are being shared on social media is not the best platform to decide for a person because it does not have any factual evidence to support it.

Reverend Regunamada is also urging religious leaders to be responsible social media users and not to share videos or misinformation.
