Permanent Secretary for Health Dr Jemesa Tudravu

Permanent Secretary for Health Dr Jemesa Tudravu has stated that the issue of overtime compensation for allied health staff in salary band F has been amicably resolved following consultations with the Ministry of Civil Service and the Health Ministry.

Dr Tudravu says the Ministry wishes to thank the Ministry of Civil Service for their response and prompt actions on their proposal.

He says the outcome has been relayed to health facilities and their affected staff are happy to note that this issue has been addressed.

When asked on the Ministry's actions to address the long standing shortage of health care workers in the country, Dr Tudravu says the Health Ministry has commenced consultations with its partners and stakeholders including the Ministry of Civil Service, and the two health training universities in Fiji – the Fiji National University, and the University of Fiji, on sustainable short and long term solutions to address the health workforce needs for Fiji.

He adds the consultations are ongoing and the health workforce plan is anticipated to be finalised and launched in early 2025.
