Defending champions India have booked their place in the Asia Cup 2025 final after a commanding 41-run victory over Bangladesh in Dubai.
The win keeps India unbeaten in the Super Fours and sends them two points clear at the top of the table, effectively eliminating Sri Lanka, who suffered back-to-back losses in their opening two matches.
Batting first, India were powered by opener Abhishek Sharma, who continued his fine form with a blistering 75 off 37 balls, smashing six fours and five sixes.
He shared an explosive first-wicket partnership with Shubman Gill, scoring 46 runs in the powerplay alone.
However, after his run-out in the 12th over, India suffered a mini-collapse, losing three wickets for 17 runs in just over three overs.
All-rounder Hardik Pandya stepped up to stabilize the innings with a crucial 38 off 29, guiding India to a competitive total of 168/7.
In reply, Bangladesh got off to a promising start with Saif Hassan leading the charge.
The opener struck 69 off 51 deliveries, including five sixes, but lacked support from the rest of the batting lineup.
Only Parvez Hossain Emon managed to reach double figures with 21 off 19 balls.
India’s bowlers kept the pressure on, with Kuldeep Yadav shining once again, returning figures of 3/18.
Jasprit Bumrah and Varun Chakravarthy chipped in with two wickets each, as Bangladesh were bowled out for 127 in the final over.
The result leaves Pakistan and Bangladesh tied on two points each, making their upcoming clash tomorrow a must-win for both sides.
The winner will join India in Monday’s final.
