Increase in fuel prices from tomorrow while gas prices to go down

There will be an increase in the price of fuel from tomorrow while gas prices will go down.

The Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission has announced that the price of unleaded fuel will increase from $1.84 to $1.96 per litre.

The price of premix will increase from $1.47 to $1.61 per litre.

It has also been announced that the price of diesel will increase from $1.52 to $1.63 per litre.

A 4.5kg cylinder of gas will now cost $11.54.

This previously cost $11.86.

The cost of a 12kg cylinder of gas is now $30.79.

$31.64 was the previous price for a 12kg cylinder of gas.

It has also been announced that a 13kg cylinder of gas will now cost $33.35.

Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission General Manager Operations, Senikavika Jiuta says fuel prices have increased due to the unfavourable movement in international prices and weakening of the US Dollar against the Fijian dollar based on June 2020 imports.

Jiuta says the major reason for the decrease in price of all LPG products in August 2020 is due to a decrease in butane price, international freight, and a slight weakened US dollars based on June 2020 imports.

She says Fiji is directly impacted by the world market prices for both refined oil and LPG.

Jiuta says FCCC will conduct the next Fuel and LPG review on 1st September 2020.
