Minister for Education, Rosy Akbar and NFP’s Leader, Biman Prasad

Minister for Education, Rosy Akbar says she is disgusted with the level of disrespect shown by the NFP Leader, Professor Biman Prasad to her as a woman by calling her a motor mouth while Prasad says he does not refer to Akbar as a woman but as Minister for Education responsible for the work of the Ministry for Education.

Akbar again launched an attack on Prasad this morning and stated that she was disappointed with Professor Prasad where he appeared in a video and used terrible grammar setting the worst example for aspiring students who many have come across the video.

She says while Prasad was making his nonsense video, approximately 151,000 primary and 64,000 secondary school students were assisted through free education in the last financial year and this will continue.

As Akbar continued to attack Prasad, NFP’s Lenora Qereqeretabua raised a point of order saying she was also attacked by a FijiFirst parliamentarian.

Akbar says providing lunch has always been a parental responsibility for decades.

NFP’s Leader, Biman Prasad says he had asked Akbar on whether there would be any room within the Ministry’s budget whether some grants can be used to provide lunch to students and Akbar had said they do not have money.

He says Akbar’s comments are ridiculous when she said they are not using grants to provide lunch for students as they do not want teachers to be pounding onions and garlic.

Prasad says government should provide funds to NGOs and religious bodies so they can help students.
