Government is urging people to stay in their homes and await calls from officials who will bring food rations to their doorsteps.

It says there were several incidents yesterday where officials distributing food rations in the Nasinu area had to remind the public to adhere to social distancing.

Teams conducting operations in the Narere, Makoi, Laqere and Muanikoso subdivisions delivered food rations to hundreds of Fijians who had sent in their details via text to the dedicated number – 161.

Meanwhile, 71-year-old Ruci Botei of Omkar Road says she is thankful to the government for their consideration given the difficult time they are going through and this food ration should be enough to carry them through for the week.

28-year-old Amar Sen of Muanikoso who also received food ration says this gesture by government might seem little by some but it says a lot about government’s duty of care.

Dial *161# if you live in Suva and Nausori and genuinely require an emergency food supply.

Please provide your name and street address to allow the Ministry to locate you quickly.
