Good news as International Women's Association Fiji has completed and handed over a brand-new Maternal-Fetal Scan Unit at the CWM Hospital.

IWA Fiji President, Judy Compain says today was a proud and meaningful milestone for them as they officially handed over the new Maternal-Fetal Scan Unit and a high-tech 3D Ultrasound Machine to the CWM Hospital Ante-Natal Clinic.

She says it is a $125,000 investment in safer pregnancies and healthier babies.

Compain adds this new clinic is an expansion of the IWA–High Risk Clinic they built in 2018, now upgraded with advanced 3D imaging technology that will significantly improve early detection and specialised care for high-risk mothers, including women living with diabetes and HIV.

She says earlier diagnosis means earlier intervention, safer pregnancies, and ultimately, saved lives.

It will also help ease pressure on the CWM Children’s Hospital, particularly the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

Compain has thanked Dr. Kelera Sakumeni, Dr. Nitik Ram, Dr. Mairini Rokovunisei, Dr. Vili, Dr. Richard Angelo Tavo, and the incredible registrars, midwives, nurses, and support staff who care for our mothers every day.

She says their dedication is the reason they continue this work.

Compain also acknowledges the Fiji Revenue and Customs Service for enabling the smooth clearance of the ultrasound machine, the Katalyst Foundation for the clinic beds and chairs and for always responding to other urgent requests, their contractors, electricians, and air-conditioning teams for their fast and efficient work.

She says their commitment made this two-month project possible.

Compain sats the International Women's Association Fiji may be a small charity, but they believe that small actions done with sincerity can create big change and today is proof of that.

She says they are deeply grateful to everyone who has supported them financially.

Compain says your generosity turned a request for a 'small ultrasound probe' into a fully completed 2-room clinic built inside the Ante-Natal Clinic with the most advanced 3D ultrasound machine in just two months.
