SODELPA General Secretary, Viliame Takayawa, SODELPA management board member, Ro Teimumu Kepa and Acting Supervisor of Elections, Ana Mataiciwa

SODELPA General Secretary, Viliame Takayawa confirms that he is yet to receive the resignation letter of SODELPA management board member and party member, Ro Teimumu Kepa who has taken up the board Chair position for Tertiary Scholarship and Loans Service and board position for Airports Fiji Limited.

Takayawa says the Acting Supervisor of Elections, Ana Mataiciwa has also contacted the party asking whether executive, board position holders and members of SODELPA have resigned before taking up statutory board positions which is a requirement under the Political Parties Act.

When asked by the media on whether she will be resigning from the party board position, Ro Teimumu says we have to ask the new Attorney General because the new AG has just been appointed, and that is a question of law that the AG can comment on.

Ro Teimumu says there are other people who are members of political parties and also members of boards.

She also asked the media why are they targeting her.

The SODELPA General Secretary says everyone holding board and executive positions in the party has been informed numerous times that they have to resign from the party board or executive positions to take up positions on statutory boards.

He says this is the law and not negotiable.

Takayawa also confirms that the 5 SODELPA management board members that have resigned are Ratu Jese Qalirea, Ratu Antonio Lavekau, Adi Ana Naivou, Sitiveni Vodo and Losena Salabula.

These letters have been forwarded to the Acting Supervisor of Elections.

Ro Teimumu is currently in a meeting.
