Hurricanes fullback, Jordie Barrett is not going to the Blues.

Blues CEO Andrew Hore says his franchise won’t be chasing Barrett to join older brother Beauden in 2022 which is expected to result in the versatile back re-signing with the Hurricanes.

While Jordie Barrett is contracted to NZ Rugby until next year, his deal with the Hurricanes expired this season. There had been speculation that he may shift to Auckland to join Beauden, who is contracted to the Blues until 2023.

With Roger Tuivasa-Sheck set to switch to rugby after the Warriors complete their NRL campaign, and Beauden Barrett also on their roster, Hore said the Blues were already satisfied with their signings for 2022.

Tuivasa-Sheck, who could play at fullback, wing, or in the centres in the 15-man code, has signed with NZ Rugby and the Blues through to 2023.

The Blues will face the Highlanders at 7.05pm this Saturday in the Super Rugby Trans-Tasman final.
