A call is being made for Human Resource leaders to take proactive steps in ensuring that wellbeing and growth are embedded into business strategy as a healthy, motivated workforce is key to sustainable national development.

This was highlighted by Vice President of the Fiji Human Resources Institute, Rosie Fong while speaking during a HR Workshop on Employee Burnout and Succession Planning hosted by University of Fiji, in partnership with the Association of Commonwealth Universities.

Fong highlighted the critical link between employee well-being and organizational productivity.

She says our people are our greatest asset on the underscoring pressing need for businesses to adopt agile succession planning and structured wellness initiatives.

Fong says the event brought together Human Resource leaders and practitioners from a wide range of sectors for a day of thought-provoking dialogue, practical insights, and shared learning.

UniFiji Director of Human Resources and Workshop Coordinator, Ashneel Kumar Singh emphasized that the event was a crucial step towards changing how organizations view and respond to workplace well-being.

Kumar says this event was designed to help HR professionals understand that the key drivers of organizational success rely on the health and growth of its people.

He says for far too long, mental health has been given the silent treatment, and this silence has caused serious setbacks, not only within organizations but across the nation.

He says they are proud to say that this is just the beginning and the University of Fiji is committed to working with various sectors to promote resilient, inclusive, and fair work practices in the field of Human Resources.

Kumar adds this workshop marks the first of its kind in the HR space with the goal of creating a healthier and more future-readier workplace across Fiji and the Pacific.
