Permanent Secretary for Health, Dr. James Fong

If you are living in areas that have been severely affected by the recent bad weather, you are being urged to be vigilant and maintain your hygiene as there is a high risk that Leptospirosis, Typhoid, Dengue and Diarrhoea cases can occur.

Permanent Secretary for Health, Dr. James Fong says we are currently going through a high risk period where these cases can spike.

Dr. Fong says we have had torrential amounts of rain and there are many sources of Leptospirosis, Typhoid, Dengue and Diarrhoea.

He adds they are working on reducing the sources for these diseases and coming up with new ways so that the Ministry is able to deal with the cases.

Dr. Fong also says they do need a whole of community approach in battling and preventing the cases.

He adds that people would need to clear debris and stagnant water.

Dr. Fong says they are working with Water Authority so that clean water is supplied to affected areas as hygiene is important to battle these diseases.
