The 2025 Hibiscus Festival that will be held on August 23rd to the 30th isn’t just about pageantry and entertainment — it’s becoming a powerful platform for national awareness and social change.

Minister for Housing and Local Government, Maciu Nalumisa, highlighted the Festival's increasing role in addressing key socio-economic issues affecting Fijian communities during this morning's media launch.

The theme for this year's festival is: Beauty with a Purpose – Fighting Against Drugs and Building a Safer Future.

He says this year, they will crown the 69th Queen, keeping the event a proud tradition for both the capital city and the nation.

He adds that they will continue to use the Hibiscus Festival to raise awareness of key national concerns and promote advocacy and collective responsibility.

Nalumisa pointed out that the Festival drives local development by creating opportunities for small and medium enterprises, boosting tourism, and stimulating commercial activity in the city.

He says the event provides a space where families, communities, and businesses come together to celebrate Suva’s vibrant social and economic life.

The Minister asserted that the Festival will continue to elevate voices that matter — providing a stage for civic dialogue, grassroots innovation, and inclusive development.

He says the Festival is more than just an event — it’s a movement of pride, participation, and progress.

Organised by the Suva City Council and the Hibiscus Executive Committee, the Festival will return this August from the 23rd to the 30th under the slogan "Where Beauty Blooms and Suva Shines," urging everyone not just to attend and celebrate but to engage and contribute.
