Australian High Commissioner, John Feakes says herd immunity through vaccinations is the answer to get through the COVID-19 outbreak and discussions can then recommence on a travel bubble between Australia and Fiji.

Feakes says these discussions will definitely continue when the outbreak is over.

Fiji has relied on tourism to bring in the much-needed revenue and thousands of jobs have been affected in the sector since last year.

The Australian High Commissioner says the COVID-19 vaccine will play an important part in all of this.

The Ministry of Health’s target population for COVID-19 vaccination is now 587,651.

237,940 people have received the first doses so far.

Australia will provide 1 million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine to Fiji while New Zealand will provide 500,000 doses.
