Team Fiji has successfully defended its Restaurant Challenge title in Australia, emerging as the overall winners while bringing home gold, silver and bronze medals across several culinary competitions.
Chef Isireli Chong of Club Wyndham Resort and Chef Filipe of Yasawa Island Resort led Fiji’s success, winning gold in the Restaurant Challenge.
Their performance helped Team Fiji successfully defend the title and be crowned the overall winners of the competition.
Chef Ifraaz Hussein and Chef Frances Wakeham of Sheraton Fiji Golf & Beach Resort also delivered a strong performance, finishing second and securing a silver medal in the Restaurant Challenge.
Fiji also picked up medals in the individual cook-off, with Chef Maurisio and Chef Masi of COMO Laucala Island both securing bronze medals.
Meanwhile, Chef Warren Mave added another international medal for Fiji after winning bronze at the Global Pastry Chefs Challenge Pacific Rim Semi-Finals in Melbourne.
The results mean Fiji finishes its Australian campaign with gold and the overall Restaurant Challenge title, silver in the Restaurant Challenge, bronze medals in the individual cook-off and another bronze from the Global Pastry Chefs Challenge Pacific Rim Semi-Finals.
The achievements highlight the depth of talent within Fiji's culinary industry, with the chefs demonstrating their skills, teamwork and professionalism on the international stage.
Team Fiji says the success is also an inspiration for young chefs around the country who hope to one day represent Fiji internationally.
