A heavy rain warning remains in force for the whole of the Fiji as a trough of low pressure and associated clouds and rain is now expected to affect the country until tomorrow.

The Nadi Weather Office says people can expect occasional rain, heavy at times, with a few thunderstorms over most places.

They say isolated heavy ran may lead to flash flooding in low-lying and flood-prone areas.

Significant rainfall recorded in the past 24 hours includes 77.5mm in Waimanu, 63.5mm in Nayarabale, 62.0mm in Nasinu Forestry and 59mm in Monasavu.

People living in low-lying informal settlements and flood-prone areas are urged to be cautious, as flash flooding may disrupt traffic flow and affect some businesses and communities.

Surface flooding is also expected in streets, especially in urban areas with poor drainage systems.
