A flash flood warning is now in force all low lying areas of the country.

The Nadi Weather Office says a heavy rain warning remains in force Viti Levu, Vanua Levu, Kadavu, Yasawa, Mamanuca, Lomaiviti and the Southern Lau Group.

A heavy rain alert is in force for the rest of Fiji.

The Weather Office says this is because of a trough of low pressure that is expected to affect the country until later today.

People can expect rain, heavy at times and thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, the Fiji Roads Authority says a number of roads are flooded and closed to traffic.

They say in the Central Division Colata Cocoa Road in Korovou Waitaqolo Crossing, Waisa Crossing on Navulokani Road, Waidradra Crossing on Vatulili Road, Waiwatu Crossing on Navulokani Road, Lutu Flat, and Wailoa Road in Naqali are closed due to flooding.

The FRA says Waima Crossing on Nairukuruku Road in Rewa is also flooded.

They add Vatu Culvert on Natewa West Coast Road before Navetau in Saqani in the Northern Division is only open to light vehicles due to an underslip.
