Heavy rain warning cancelled

The heavy rain warning previously in force for the Northern Division, Lau and Lomaiviti groups has now been cancelled.

The Nadi Weather Office says a trough of low pressure, with associated cloud, showers and rain, is expected to affect the Northern Division, Lau and Lomaiviti groups until later today.

They say an east to southeast wind flow prevails over the group.

People in affected areas can expect occasional rain and possible isolated thunderstorms.

The rain is expected to gradually ease from the west later today.

People are also advised of the risk of flash flooding in flood-prone, low-lying informal settlements, communities, businesses and Irish crossings, which may lead to traffic disruptions.

Drivers are urged to take caution due to wet roads and reduced visibility, especially during heavy downpours, which increase the risk of road accidents.
