A heavy rain alert remains in force for Vanua Levu, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands, Lau and Lomaiviti groups as a previous warning in force for the rest of Fiji has been now cancelled.
The Nadi Weather Office says a trough of low pressure with the associated clouds and rain affects the Northern and Eastern parts of the group until later today.
They says people can expect occasional rain over Vanua Levu, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands, Lau and Lomaiviti groups.
The Office adds localised heavy falls may lead to flash flooding of low-lying and flood-prone areas.
