A Heavy Rain Alert is now in force for Viti Levu, Yasawa, Mamanuca Group, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands and Southern Lau Group.
A trough of low pressure lies slow moving to the west of Fiji, and is associated with cloud and rain.
It is expected to affect the country until tomorrow.
The Nadi Weather Office says isolated thunderstorms and heavy rain are expected which may lead to flash flooding of low lying and flood prone areas.
They say people can also expect some disruption to traffic flow because of poor visibility.
