The USA eagles have brought the Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s team’s Cape Town 7s cup campaign to an end, beating them 10-7 in a close encounter.

Both teams tussled for possession throughout the first half, however well executed support play resulted in Ilona Maher scoring in the corner in the dying seconds, adding 5 points as the USA led 5-0 at half time

Ana Maria Naimasi scored the Fijiana’s only converted try in the match.

A beautiful sprint through the Fijiana’s defense by Naya Tapper resulted in a gap opening in the far left of pitch which Sammy Sullivan took advantage of, scoring in the 11th minute.

USA managed to hold on to possession long enough till the last minute, kicking the ball into touch.

The Fijiana 7s will now play Great Britain in the second 5th place semifinal at 7:06pm tonight.
