Medical services in the country are expected to be boosted following a donation of medical equipment worth $10 million from the Japanese Government to help the ailing health system in the country.
While receiving the equipment at the Fiji Pharmaceutical & Biomedical Services, Minister for Health Dr Ratu Atonio Lalabalavu says the donated equipment includes a CT Scanner, eight infant incubators, 50 hospital beds, nine mobile X-ray units, six ambulances and other medical equipment.
Dr Lalabalavu says some of this equipment has been deployed in certain parts of the country, and it is functional with no issues at the moment.
He thanked the Japanese Ambassador to Fiji, Rokuichiro Michii, for extending their help in aiding the much-needed equipment that would facilitate the well-being of Fiji citizens.
Dr Lalabalavu says the equipment could not have come at a better time as it will greatly assist healthcare workers around the country in their work, and also make a difference for patients who are in their care.
He says the equipment will greatly assist the healthcare workers in their field.
