The Ministry of Health has assured people that upgrading the infrastructure at Valelevu Health Centre remains a priority, however, logistical challenges are delaying the process due to the facility’s high patient demand.

While responding to concerns raised by fijivillage News, Minister for Health Ratu Atonio Lalabalavu acknowledged the need for improvements at the busy health centre.

The Minister states that infrastructure upgrades are a key priority in the Ministry’s work program and assured that efforts will be made to complete them.

Ratu Atonio explained that one of the main challenges is ensuring that renovation work can proceed with minimal disruption to services, given the high volume of patients the health centre serves daily.

Earlier this week, patients raised concerns about overcrowding and the urgent need for better infrastructure to improve healthcare services.

He also highlighted other pressing issues, including staff shortages and a rise in flu-like illnesses, which have added further pressure on healthcare facilities nationwide.

Ratu Atonio is urging the public to seek early medical attention and follow preventive measures to help ease the burden on health centres like Valelevu.
