Good news for thousands of nurses as the Fiji Nurses Association and the Ministry of Health have resolved outstanding grievances regarding salary anomalies, allowance and terms and conditions of the contracts of employment for nurses.

Permanent Secretary for Employment, Maritino Nemani says these were long outstanding grievances.

The Ministry of Health and the Fiji Nurses Association have signed an agreement in collaboration with the Ministry of Employment.

Nemani says the resolution agreed upon is a win-win for everyone.

He says this is a sign of good faith where parties are willing to dialogue with mutual trust and understanding for the common purpose of serving the people.

Minister for Employment, Agni Deo Singh has thanked both parties for coming forward and settling the nurse's grievances for the greater benefit of the people of Fiji.

The Employment Minister thanked his team, including the Permanent Secretary and the mediators for bringing the parties together and resolving the pending matter amicably.

Singh says this positive approach by the Ministry has resolved the recent disputes in the past few months.

He says that the emphasis on collective bargaining in good faith is the cornerstone of employer-employee relations which also demonstrates the government's commitment to complying with the ILO Core Conventions.

The Ministry says they are tasked to ensure they provide the avenue and environment where all parties can come together and resolve matters so that work and productivity are not threatened.

fijivillage News has sent questions to the Fiji Nursing Association on what has been agreed upon.

FNA is yet to respond.
