Prince Harry, Meghan and her mother were involved in a "near catastrophic car chase" involving paparazzi, a spokesperson for the couple has claimed.

BBC reports that the incident happened after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex attended an awards ceremony in New York.

In a statement, their spokesperson said the "relentless pursuit" lasted for more than two hours.

The statement says the chase resulted in "multiple near collisions.

In a statement, the New York Police Department (NYPD) confirmed an incident took place involving Prince Harry and Meghan and said that numerous photographers "made their journey challenging" but there were no reported collisions, injuries or arrests.

New York City Mayor, Eric Adams says even a short chase would have been extremely dangerous, recalling how Prince Harry's mother Diana died.
