“I’m happy to be playing for Nadi but Ba will always be in my heart.”

Former Ba great and current Nadi soccer midfielder, Avinesh Suwamy has made this comment as he mentally prepares himself for a likely face-off against Ba in the final of the Punjas BOG should Ba and Nadi qualify for the final.

The 34-year-old former student of Ba Sanatan College and DAV College has won over 30 titles with Ba in his 15-year journey with the Men in Black.

Suwamy who is originally from Veisaru in Ba is currently the highest goal scorer of BOG with four goals.

Suwamy says while he is glad to be leading Nadi’s brigade, he is also sad that he is no longer with his home district.

Suwamy adds that he is close to Ba’s Malakai Tiwa and emotions will be high should they face-off in the final.

Ba will face Rewa at 2pm and Nadi will play Suva at 4pm tomorrow in the semi-finals of the Punjas BOG. The final will kick off at 3pm Sunday at Churchill Park.

You can catch the live commentaries of these matches on Radio Sargam.
