The growth of Fiji’s tourism industry has outpaced expectations year after year, and this momentum reminds us of the importance of strong leadership, relevant advocacy, and a shared commitment to sustainable growth.
Fiji Hotel and Tourism Association CEO Fantasha Lockington highlighted this at the Association’s 60th anniversary cocktail held at the Sheraton Fiji Golf and Beach Resort.
Lockington says their 60th anniversary is not just a milestone, but a moment to refocus their energy on the future.
The occasion brought together members, industry stakeholders, and partners to reflect on six decades of collective progress, collaboration, and unwavering support for the tourism sector.
The celebration followed FHTA’s Annual General Meeting (AGM), during which members formally confirmed the five newly elected members of the FHTA Board of Directors:
• Azam Khan – Hexagon Group of Hotels
• Carey Osborne – Hilton Fiji Beach Resort & Spa
• James McCann – Yasawa Island Resort & Spa
• Jim Moore – Novotel Nadi & Suva
• Neeraj Chadha – Marriott International Inc.
The FHTA says continuing in their roles are Board President Narend Kumar of Tanoa Hotel Group and Vice Presidents Josephine Moffat (Musket Cove Island Resort & Marina) and Lee Pearce (Raffe Hotels and Resorts), forming a leadership team that reflects the industry’s diversity and strength.
They say the AGM provided members and associate members an opportunity to review the Association’s achievements and advocacy over the past year, with a particular focus on building partnerships that enable inclusive, sustainable growth.
To mark the special occasion, a commemorative anniversary cake was cut by FHTA Life Members Robert Wade and Patrick Wong, joined by senior members Lorraine Evans and Michael Dennis Snr.
FHTA Board President Narend Kumar says their Board represents all corners of the industry – from local operators to international brands.
Kumar says they are proud to stand united in their commitment to simplifying industry compliance, strengthening public-private partnerships, and supporting Fiji’s long-term tourism vision.
FHTA reaffirmed its commitment to sustainability as both a strategic priority and a responsibility.
Working closely with government ministries and agencies, the Association says they aim to help streamline regulatory compliance, enhance policy engagement, and support the integration of responsible tourism practices.
As the Association moves forward into its next chapter, it remains dedicated to supporting its members, elevating the voice of the tourism industry, and nurturing an environment in which businesses and communities can thrive.
