Growth in demography should also mean growth in all aspects including financial growth, the number of entrepreneurs, and employed people, and development with collaborative efforts between the government and the community.

This was highlighted by Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka while opening the Bua Provincial Council meeting in Nabouwalu.

Rabuka says traditional leaders and district representatives should continue to pursue development for their respective areas and their people.

He says that development is a continuous process and that the government and the leaders have a role to play as development is inevitable due to the growing population.

Rabuka adds Fiji is fortunate to have strong ties with foreign nations who are willing to support and assist the government in its developmental endeavors.

He says they offer opportunities for economic growth, technological advancements, cultural exchange, and diplomatic cooperation.

Rabuka has also urged the Bua Provincial Council not to hesitate to raise concerns regarding development.

He says the government is committed to addressing the needs and aspirations of the people.

He further says the government is obligated to carry out a well-balanced development approach in all provinces, ensuring that opportunities are distributed evenly throughout the nation.

Rabuka reassured the council of the government’s commitment towards the development of communities, as reflected in the 2023-2024 National Budget, with opportunities and programs that are available, including the reintroduced rural housing assistance.

The Prime Minister will be opening the Cakaudrove Provincial Meeting today.
