The Suva Grammar School old scholars 2000 decade today presented their contribution of $10,000 ahead of the school's 65th Blue Sapphire anniversary and reunion launch next week.

The 65th jubilee project this year is called 'Digital Grammar' with funds to go towards setting the school up with the tools and infrastructure for the digital age.

The donation was handed over by decade representative Leone Qalubau and received by Ex-Scholars President Stanley Simpson.

Qalubau says they wanted to kick off the 65th anniversary and reunion with action.

He says their $10,000 pledge was raised from simple, community efforts kava barrel fundraisers, food sales and contributions from each of the ten year groups (2000–2009), with a target of $1,000 per group.

Simpson says this gift sets the tone for the Jubilee and they thank the 2000s decade for their energy and commitment and inspiring other alumni to get involved.

He says it’s the Grammar Lions spirit at its best.

Last year the $47,000 raised from the reunion decade pledges went towards a school gym which contributed immensely to the school's sporting success this year.

The 65th Anniversary Jubilee will feature daily old scholar and school hosted events from Sunday September 7th to Friday September 12th, 2025, and will culminate in a black-tie ball on Saturday, September 13th, 2025.
