The government wants a local to be the Police Commissioner.

This has been stated by Minister for Home Affairs, Pio Tikoduadua during his tour of the Northern Division.

Tikoduadua says taking on the top job can be really challenging because a lot of it has been political.

He adds at the moment they have an acting Commissioner of Police and they also have the concept of restoring blue which is taking police back to when they were commanded by the police.

Tikoduadua further says he has been telling new graduates who are looking to making policing a career that being the commissioner is something that they can aspire to.
