The future generation of Lakeba is set to benefit from the reopening of the Ratu Kamisese Mara Technical College, which had been closed for several years by the previous government.

During his visit to the Province of Lau, the Minister for Public Works, Ro Filipe Tuisawau, met with local clans on the chiefly island to discuss plans to reopen the college however, there is no confirmation on when it will reopen.

Ro Filipe says the closure of the college had a negative impact on the youth in the Lau Province, as it deprived them of valuable opportunities for education and skills training.
