Good news for people living on the island of Cikobia and adjacent islands, who have been facing water issues due to the prolonged dry spell as the government will be transporting 250,000 litres of water to you.

The government is currently in its final preparation to deliver essential relief to water-stressed islands in the Western and Northern Divisions.

They say after the initial distribution, the MV Vunilagi will replenish its cargo at Malau Wharf, with 400,000 litres of water slated for distribution across all affected islands.

The Government adds their second vessel, MV Vatulawa, will carry 190,000 litres of clean water and distribute this vital resource to several islands in the Western Division, including Vatulele, the Malolo Group of islands, and the Yasawas.

They add the ship has contingency plans to ensure that it can refill at the Lautoka Wharf, ensuring that the Western islands' water needs are comprehensively serviced.

The MV Vunilagi will depart Suva at 4 this afternoon, whereas the MV Vatulawa is anticipated to leave tomorrow.
