Ministry of Economy Coordinator Kamal Goundar has confirmed to Legend FM News that they have delivered 670 ration packs in the Waila lockdown area so far.

He says there are currently close to 107 families in lockdown in Waila.

The Fijian Government has distributed more than 35,040 food ration, grocery, and essential item packs so far.

Meanwhile, the Fiji Times is yet to respond to questions in relation to a woman from Waila who had messaged the Attorney General, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, and claimed that one of the Fiji Times articles was false.

Sayed-Khaiyum posted a picture of a Viber message on his Facebook page where the woman had claimed that the Fiji Times article that a family in the Waila lockdown was surviving on bele and roti was false as they had received rations.

Sayed-Khaiyum wrote there are, unfortunately, some media outlets, politicians, and individuals who care more about politicising COVID-19 than wanting to know and tell the truth.

He says fortunately there is a silent majority who are doing their part in a positive manner and know and understand that a unified national approach is critical to beat the ill effects of this virus.

Sayed-Khaiyum adds the woman is responsible and he considers her brave.
