Govt assists 205,000 more Fijians with a $50 cash payment

Around 205,000 Fijians in the informal sector were paid out $10.2 million through the second round of government's $50 cash assistance this week.

These are individuals whose employment income has been affected and those that not receive other forms of Government assistance.

Affected individuals had to apply by dialling *161# and provide their full name, birth registration number, date of birth, voter identification number, TIN Number, FNPF number and home address.

The Acting Permanent Secretary for Economy Shiri Gounder says government has so far paid out $32 million to people in the informal sector through their $90 and $50 cash assistance programs.

Gounder says the government has also paid $183 million to those in the formal sector through unemployment benefits so far.
