Prime Minister, Sitiveni Rabuka says there are many opportunities for Government and the Opposition to adopt a united approach, jointly develop legislation and pursue other initiatives for the common good.

While responding to the President’s opening speech in Parliament, Rabuka says the People’s Coalition Government and the Opposition have many differences, but they share a common interest and duty, which is the welfare of the people, and policies and measures that will benefit them and the nation as a whole.

He hopes they can work together on policies to better protect Fiji’s children, eliminate violence against women, improve services in municipalities, provide better opportunities, inspire our sports people and alleviate the level of poverty in the country.

The Prime Minister assures Members of Parliament that the Government will continue to ensure that Fiji’s democracy will function properly and they fulfill their democratic obligations to the people of Fiji.
