Government recognizes contributions of faith‑based organizations and community committees

Faith‑based schools around Fiji has the ability and freedom to impart teachings of faith alongside the school curriculum.

This was highlighted by the Attorney General and Minister for Education, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum while officiating at the World Harvest Centre Zone 38 Gala Dinner at the Holiday Inn.

Sayed-Khaiyum says that government recognises the contributions faith‑based organizations and community committees have made to the education sector in Fiji.

He also highlighted that the Fijian Constitution under Section 21 guarantees everyone the right to be able to practice whichever religion, denomination that they wish to practice.

Sayed‑Khaiyum says that it also gives the faith groups, under the particular section, the ability to set up schools through their respective religious organizations.
