A $2.4 million project for the Government Buildings New Wing is pending approval but the tender has been awarded to a contractor.

This has been highlighted by the Assistant Manager Projects from the Ministry of Finance, Seru Tagicakibau while leading a media tour earlier today.

Tagicakibau says once they receive the approval for the funding, the works will begin.

He says the project will be shelved if there is no approval.

He also says in 2017, Western Builders was awarded a $9 million tender to renovate the Old Parliament House in Veiuto.

Tagicakibau adds this was for the first phase of work starting in 2018.

He further says the second phase of work is pending and more work needs to be done at the Old Parliament House.
