Good news for Dalo farmers

Good news for Dalo farmers as the Agro Marketing Authority is trying to set a minimum export price of dalo.

Chief Executive Officer Ilaisa Cavu said they have made a submission to Government to regulate a minimum price of $1.50/kg and are awaiting a reply.

Cavu said at the moment the authority is buying dalo at $1.20/kg  while other exporters are buying for as low as 80cents/kg.

According to Cavu, the farmers have been advised to only make deals with the Authority since the prices of dalo have dropped since October last year.

Meanwhile since New Zealand is the country’s main market for dalo, it is understood that the Authority has to meet certain quality standard requirements if they want to increase the prices.
