The good governance and well-being of the the i-Taukei people is firstly the responsibility of the Great Council of Chiefs.
This was highlighted by SODELPA MP Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu while speaking in the 2017/2018 National Budget debate.
Ratu Naiqama also says that people should not be required to pay environmental tax in their own country of birth.
Ratu Naiqama says the excessive allocation to Police of $148 million, the Corrections Services $38.7 million, are glaring examples in the increase of allocations for non-productive sectors and he says this will not help generate income to support the economy or support equitable distribution and inclusive development.
