Andy Serkis who played the corrupted character, originally known as Smeagol, in The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit films will give a continuous live reading of The Hobbit online, to raise money for charity.
He will read the novel from start to end and will only take a break to go to the toilet.
BBC News reports money raised from his expected 12-hour performance will be split between NHS Charities Together and Best Beginnings in the UK.
