A 45-year-old man from Suva has been charged with 8 counts of sexual assault and 1 count of indecent assault.

Police say the man allegedly sexually assaulted 3 girls aged 13, 14 and 16 years in Suva on ten different occasions from February last year to March this year.

They say the man was the victims' sports coach and it is alleged that the incident happened during the training sessions.

Police say the man is in custody and will appear at the Suva Magistrates Court tomorrow.

Police say they will be aggressive in cases targeting the vulnerable.

They are calling on all parents to be vigilant when sending their child to training or any other activities and are urging young people to have confidence in themselves and report any matter uncomfortable to them immediately.
