Girl who was allegedly attacked by her stepfather remains admitted in hospital

The 14-year-old girl who was allegedly attacked by her stepfather with a cane knife in Kabisi, Sigatoka last week remains admitted in the Lautoka Hospital.

The man also allegedly murdered the girl's mother, who was his defacto partner last week.

Police say the woman died after allegedly being struck with a cane knife.

Meanwhile, the suspect was produced in court last Friday and has been remanded in custody.

Anand Kumar has been charged with one count of murder, two counts of breach of the domestic violence restraining order and one count of breach of bail conditions.

The case will be called on the 7th of next month.
