The Great Council of Chiefs building which burned down in 2019, is expected to be completed by the end of January 2025.

While highlighting the Ministry's achievements of 2023, Minister for i-Taukei Affairs Ifereimi Vasu says they have already started on the administration side last year and have signed the contract with Pacific Buildings Solutions.

He says this is for the construction of the main building.

Vasu says the work should start this month and be completed by the end of January 2025.

The Minister also highlighted that they had the opportunity to provide access roads to the remote parts of Naitaisiri, especially the access road leading to Roma Village.

He says the i-Taukei Affairs Board funded the road construction from Nukulau in Ra to Roma Village in Naitasiri, which was not accessible by road.

The road was completed last month and is a relief to the villagers of Roma as they can now access critical services.
