Great Council of Chiefs Chairman Ratu Viliame Seruvakula

The Great Council of Chiefs have agreed to set up a new Province called the Colo Province or Yasana o Colo.

This was revealed by the Great Council of Chiefs Chairman Ratu Viliame Seruvakula, stating that the motion was brought up by members of Colo North.

Speaking in the iTaukei language, Ratu Viliame says he has witnessed what the representative from Colo North was saying when he put forth the motion to have a new province.

He says for those in the interior, they don’t feel the impact of development happening in their province, like those communities who are the true people of that province.

While providing an example, the Chair says they don’t feel the impact of development in Tailevu but have to work hard to get the support they need.

He says the motion was agreed to unanimously by the GCC members, and he will be putting forth the motion to the government to deliberate on.
